Blackmore Vale

We are a branch of the Embroiderers' Guild in Dorset and we have a large number of members interested in all types of embroidery, sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet and textile art. We have a bi-annual exhibition in conjunction with Dorset Arts Week. This year is our 25th Anniversary. We hope you enjoy looking at our work and activities during our meetings and workshops.

A Touch of Eastern Promise

This workshop was pretty intense and was led by our chair lady. Sari ribbons applied to felt with automatic sewing machine stitches, lined and card inserted inside - and joined in a 'special' way to make 'pop-up' boxes. Some lovely results.

January Workshops

Our normal practice for January is to have 'In-house' tutors in case the weather decides to be difficult and causes problems for tutors travelling any distance.

This January three members taught workshops entitled: A Touch of Gold, Hand Stitch Sampler, Secret Pockets.

Here are the examples of the high quality work in progress.

Warped Imagination

The latest workshop was most eventful - the tutor had a tyre blow out on the way to the venue and a pupil had a sewing machine catch on fire! Beautiful work though! Machined strips = woven magic.
